Jennifer Longmore calls herself an extroverted introvert. In fact many people in the world who are out doing big things are introverts, she says. In this episode, Jennifer discusses how inner tendencies and fears can actually be an energy source to propel you forward to achieve your purpose in life. Through this interview session, Jennifer explains the cues to look for in determining how to know if you’re living the life you were meant to have.

Most people want to know what am I here to do? What is my purpose in life? The truth is, Jennifer says, they already know what their purpose is and they have everything inside of them to create an amazing life. The issue is, once acknowledged, the person has to get honest and do something about it. They are reluctant to take the next step. They fear that they won’t be supported, or won’t know what to do once they get started. They don’t know how to clear away the blocks so they can live their purpose.

Here, Jennifer gets real about reading volumes of books to make her purpose come true. She says no amount of information will help you live your purpose, but it is the inspiration to go out and achieve it.  Living your best life doesn’t just happen. If you want to love your life, you have to do what you were born to do.

Jennifer talks candidly about her own venture into business and how she went from 7 clients to a 6-figure income in 10 months, because she was doing what she was born to do. She tells about being laser focused and motivated even on days when procrastination is tempting.  Be a doer, not a talker, she advises.

Choose the opportunities that are right for you. The world is flooded with opportunities. How do you know which of them are for you? Jennifer says she holds each opportunity up against a measuring stick. On a scale of one to ten, where does this rate? If the opportunity isn’t a 10, she doesn’t do it. This doesn’t mean missing out, it means staying connected to her best life. There will always be fears and obstacles to overcome. Expectations will seem impossible to live up to, but you have to get out of your own way. Once you find your why, require it, expect it, make it come true.

You have a unique brilliance... do you know what it is?

Listen in today while Kat Loterzo interviews Belinda Jackson, entrepreneur, marketing and business strategist. Belinda knows firsthand from working with service based businesses that women with an entrepreneurial spirit have ambition and sense of adventure. They want to break with tradition and do things differently.

It’s OK to do things differently, break the rules, and work with less structure, as long as you aren’t just acting aimlessly.  It’s not a case of expecting to do whatever you want and expect everything to just turn out and create the life you want. To have the life and business you want, you have to get clear on this:  What do I really want? What do I want to create for my business, my life and myself?

Belinda and Kat agree, you can create a business and a life in which you don’t have to follow the rules but you have to be willing to take the steps necessary to get to that place where you can look back and say, “Wow! Look what I created”. The principles of achieving the life and business you want are twofold:

  1. Get really clear on who you are and what you want from your business and your life. From that reality you begin to make changes right now and what you want to become will evolve.
  2. Then is the side that needs structure. Certain things need to be in place for your business. Marketing, presenting what you’ve got to offer, getting the right people. You can bend the rules but there are certain things that have to be done.

Belinda works with service based businesses helping them tap into the brilliance of their own to create profitable businesses. She acknowledges that being in business has its challenges, especially when just starting out.  In the beginning Belinda ran around trying to please everyone, undersold herself, and chargetoo little just to get the sale from a client. She learned valuable lessons that she now passes on to her clients. She teaches them how to market their services and how to package and price for profitability.

Belinda offers this advice. There will be obstacles and challenges. Believe in yourself. You really have to know your strengths and find your niche.  You need to know what your unique brilliance is so you can present that and market your brand. Learn and understand marketing. Don’t be afraid of rebranding and reconfiguring. Challenge yourself and get outside your comfort zone. If you don’t stretch yourself, you don’t learn and you don’t grow. Belinda’s motto is “Feel the fear, and do it anyway.” If you stop yourself from trying new things you let the fear and the doubt win.

There’s a revolution out there! What are you doing in here?

You know you were born for something big. You are here to make a difference in the world. What is holding you back?  In this episode, Kat brings a dose of reality to get you out in front of your fears so you can get out there and live the life you were made for.

You are a leader. Own it! Own who you are as a game changer. Own who you are as someone born to make a difference. Are you going to settle for having a website, making a few bucks, and impacting a few people? Is that the life you dream of? You have an awesome message inside you and you are here to bring that message to the world in a big way. It’s time to get it out there!

Right. What about needing a system, a strategy, the right program. How will you launch it and how do get leads – then convert them to paying customers? Kat recognizes these valid questions and answers them this way. If you are going to succeed in a big way, be known, and make a big difference, you have to look far beyond the strategy. This comes down to focus. Focus on who you need to be, the leader, the game changer, the you, you need to be – not on what you need to know. The what-to-do will take care of itself.

Starting a business will not change the world. Building a business is not what you’re here for. You are here to change the world in a big way and that means starting a revolution. You dream big and achieve more than anyone else but still it’s not enough for you. Call it contented discontent, but it’s an ambition that will not quit because you know your mission is still unfulfilled.

Your revolution is seeing yourself on a platform impacting the lives of hundreds of thousands – maybe millions of people. It’s more than making money, more than wanting to help people, more than sharing what you’ve learned in your life. It’s something you can’t escape from because it’s part of your very soul.

The world needs leaders who are not afraid to lead. The world needs leaders like you who are not afraid to face uncertainty, fear, confrontation and who are willing to do the work that most people won’t even contemplate.  We need leaders to create a difference and make the money that will impact and transform the lives of others. If you do that, Leader, you will get your message out there in a big way.

Leaders of today and leaders of the past all did something outrageous, something bold and something courageous. They failed time after time, but they persisted until they succeeded. They were mocked for standing up for something they believed in and laid themselves on the line for. Leaders are willing to live or die for their dream. Die for my dream or the difference I want to create? Really?

Enough is enough! Think about it. You’re already dying right now for whatever you’re giving your life for and investing your time and energy into. So why not invest in something that counts? Is it fear of putting yourself out there? Most of the fear is full of unnecessary what ifs and concerns. What if you fail? What about it? Accept it. Falling down is part of the way. You are going to fail and that’s a legitimate fear, but do not let that stop you from living your dreams.

You need to take action on the things that count. If you believe you have the power to create your own reality, then you know the choices you make now produce the future outcome.  In fact the life you have right now is the life you’ve created by your choices. Why not make choices now that will result in becoming the person you want to be and have the life you were born to have? It’s really up to you now.

But you delay. Why is that? It’s not time yet. You need to learn more. You haven’t got the steps figured out. True - but there will always be more to learn, more to do. Learning never stops, you are never ready. You are never done. The life you want will never magically come together.

Your wake-up call! Are you called to impact a lot of people? It is your responsibility to live it. It’s selfish to withhold your gifts from the world. To be content, you need to live your life impacting the people you were meant to impact. The need to be who you were meant to be will gnaw at you until you do what you were intended to do.

Get crystal clear on what you want.  You can trust in yourself. You do make good decisions. You know what’s right for you. This is it. You can act intuitively and you can change the world. Take this leap of faith! If it’s going to happen it is up to you.

Belinda Benn - from overweight to fitness model in her amazing life transformation

In this episode Kat talks with Belinda Benn, fitness model and inspiring leader about how she turned her life transformation into a thriving online business.  

Belinda Benn already had an MBA and was working in corporate America when she was suddenly impacted by trauma in her personal life. This was the trigger that eventually caused her to evaluate her life and change her physical body, but even beyond that, achieve an entire life transformation.

Kat talks with Belinda about how she went from overweight to amazing fitness model and how she started her online fitness business, the Get Lean Program. Listen in while Kat and Belinda talk about how our lives are a blend of: Business / Body / Mindset

Wake-up Call

Belinda said she always lived her life full of the ‘should-bes’ –filling the expectations of husband, work, family, friends. She modeled her life around everyone else and got completely out of touch with the real her.  She said she didn’t recognize the ‘real me’.

If you don’t get in touch with what your own goals and dreams are for your life, time goes on and you naturally fall into the trap of being what everyone else expects you to be. You get out of touch with yourself and out of touch with your body.

In her late 30s, Belinda was shopping for a bathing suit for a pool party. She says she realized her body had just disappeared. She had gained so much weight, and didn’t even recognize the person in the mirror. Her body transformation began at that point but the chain reaction that pushed her to change everything about her life was a devastating confession of unfaithfulness from her husband. Belinda suffered the symptoms of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and was on edge all the time. This was the catalyst that propelled her toward transformational change, not just physically, but of her entire life.

Body Transformation Cover Story

As Belinda thought about how to create a business, she looked online to what other women were doing and wondered how they succeeded. It was like looking at a puzzle she couldn’t solve. She was told we all need to learn that things are never as they seem on the outside. You don’t know what’s going on behind the scenes. You don’t have enough information. Guard yourself against judging and comparing yourself to others.

Right around the time all this chaos broke, Belinda took up surfing. She says she had always hated exercise and as a consequence her body was a bag of cellulite, soft and spongy. For six months she paddled her surf board, using it as a form of pain relief. This drove her to push though the barriers of physical discomfort which is most often the cause for women to give up on becoming physically fit.  Women who want to transform their bodies need to go through the disciplines of physical discomfort and say no to food cravings. Motivation has to go much deeper than just how we look. Women who experience dramatic transformation are able to tap into the deeper motivators than just the superficial how they will look.

Overcoming Obstacles

Our bodies are capable of amazing change, but there will always be something that can’t be changed. One of the biggest obstacles is getting real about this and accepting the fact that despite exercise and despite eating only healthy foods, the mirror reveals that some things won’t change. For example, skin continues to grow and sag, even though exercise produces muscle to help minimize the effect. Obsessing about things we can’t change robs of us of happiness. Make peace with whatever it is that can’t be changed. Women need to focus on things they can change and do the possible. In this way they will project health and vitality which is what matters most. Celebrate and be happy.

Belinda tells us that her physical transformation was part of the bigger picture. She said she had to completely let go of the past. She didn’t want to be a person who carried around baggage so she did an assessment and realized her extra weight was not serving her goals of traveling and surfing and being self-sufficient. As a result of her intense training and hard work she entered a bikini competition and her photos were ultimately sold by bodybuilding.com for their advertising.

Go beyond the superficial and think about the deeper issues motivating you: physical transformation, online business, building wealth, getting to a healthy emotional place.

Beyond the Physical Change

Kat asked Belinda, what she has gained beyond the physical change. Belinda answered, freedom! After working in corporate America for 15 years, Belinda had no desire to return to the structure and claustrophobic lifestyle of the office worker. She made up her mind that she would do whatever it took to not go back into that working environment. When she ran up against walls she reminded herself that she was not going back, even though her credentials could have netted her a 6-figure salary.

Belinda’s life transformation has given her intimate knowledge of what makes her happy, freedom to live wherever she wants to live, freedom to schedule her days as she wishes, freedom from bosses to answer to.

Get Lean Program

Belinda’s resolve to never return to the corporate lifestyle was the impetus for launching her online business. Her Get Lean Program is a commitment she has made and is now helping thousands of women around the world to transform their bodies and their lives.

The Get Lean Program is the combination of a healthy eating plan and exercise program with workout options.  Her program also includes a coaching site where participants receive coaching from Belinda, have a forum where they can connect with other women on the same journey, and a place where they can be held accountable. The overall advantage of the Get Lean Program then is not just the body transformation, but the prospect of making a life transformation.

Belinda offers this advice for women who want to experience complete transformation. Get out a piece of paper and do some deep thinking about why. You will never experience transformational change unless you know why you want it. If you get crystal clear on the why, the rest will fall into place.

Set your mind to what you want to achieve and go out and make it happen. Refuse to give in to less than what you really want and anything is possible.

Keys to Online Business

Belinda designed her business around these factors:  Global, 24/7 operation, revenue had to be independent of the currency of the country she was living in.  

The smartest choice Belinda thinks she has made is to stop trying to be the person everybody else expects her to be. She has learned to be herself, to be real, because it’s the real person that people connect to. Be authentic. People trust real. You’ve got longevity because you aren’t trying to reinvent yourself all the time.

Belinda and Kat talk about one of the most important things to bring success to business is listening to their customers. Don’t be arrogant. Pay attention to the feedback customers provide.

What keeps Belinda motivated and what she loves most about her work is seeing women overcome significant challenges to change their lives, not just physically, but in total life transformation.

Future Forward

Currently Belinda’s membership program is nutrition and exercise. She is expanding into skin care, body treatments, and alternative approaches to anti-aging.   

Belinda is also working on her memoirs of how she leaned out her body, and leaned out her life.

In reflecting on her greatest key to success, Belinda says it’s one word. Determination. You will have many opportunities to give up, things will be too hard, you won’t have the support you need, and that’s when you have to be determined.

Kat says her big ‘why’ is pride. She wants to be proud of herself and what she’s able to do in business. Belinda says her big ‘why’ is legacy. She sees the changes in women today and they are already creating that ripple effect where goodness will be brought into the world even after she’s gone.

Let's welcome Sally Matterson, one of Sidney’s top body transformers and trainers.

Interview with Sally MattersonShe trains like I’ve never seen a woman train before. We’re going to have a bit of a chat on nutrition, training, and fat loss for busy moms.

There’s a real need for people to learn how to train smarter, not necessarily harder. We need someone who’s tried it all and know what’s working and what’s not.

There are a lot of women who are trying to get in shape after a baby. So, how do we fit it in with a baby and a busy life? It starts with what you can do before the baby. You need to get back to where you were, training, getting your heart rate up. You need to burn fat, but you also need to get stronger. Some people think that cardio is the secret. You want to have the nutritional side right. Getting it right means that you can train and strengthen your muscles. People who get nutrition don’t have to spend hours and hours doing cardio.

Most people have very high cortisol levels. It’s a stress hormone. Doing too much cardio elevates the cortisol even more. If you’re training well with weights, you can raise your heart rate and lower the cortisol at the same time. You don’t need to add in three cardio sessions too. For women who are used to training hard and sweating, you don’t need to do cardio to really get worn out in the gym. If you’re doing it right, you can use weights and get as tired as in a cardio session.

With your nutrition, you don’t need to be perfect. You can indulge one day a week and get a taste of the foods you really like. Maybe it’s something high-carb or something with more dairy, but you don’t have to eliminate it all together from your diet. Generally, I recommend that this be at night. I’ve found that if people start their day with a “cheat meal,” it tends to go into the next one and the next. This isn’t forever. You can do it for six weeks to get your body to reset and then add back in what you’ve eliminated slowly. You don’t have to count calories or weigh food. For the most part, I’m a big fan of adding in more protein. I don’t think that most women (or even some men), eat enough.

So, I give people a protein target and that along with good carbohydrates and good fats, that’s where I come from. As long as you hit your protein target, you’ll find that you naturally eat less of the carbohydrates and fats. As long as you get your protein in, the rest will take care of itself.

If there’s one thing that people need to know is that training your legs will burn a lot of fat. Never skip leg day. If you train your legs, with compound exercises, you’ll naturally get fitter. Posture and everything return back to your leg muscles. You need to train the rest of your body to keep in proportion, too, but legs are very important.

Dealing with lack of motivation is hard for a lot of women. To do that, you need to find a greater purpose to your training. When you’re lean, you feel better about yourself. Once you’re done with your training, you’ll be a better wife, sister, or mother. That’s a higher purpose. Finding your real why isn’t just about you being in shape, but it’s about providing tools for the greater good.

It doesn’t matter how much you know. It’s great to jump in and do something structured that someone else has created. It’s great to do something that you don’t have to think about. Sally’s
program is one that I highly recommend. You keep moving; you don’t have to stop and think about it. If you love training and are willing to work hard, this is the program for you.

Tell everyone you’re doing it to keep you accountable. It’s great to be strong and be able to have control of what you’re eating and doing. I love being strong as a female. It helps you feel a lot better about yourself.
